Sell on WooCommerce

The Pixonaut for WooCommerce plugin puts the designer on your product pages and turns each paid personalised order line into a printshop order. The store connects from the plugin in its WordPress admin: there is no key to copy into it.

The plugin needs WordPress 6.9 or newer, WooCommerce 10.6 or newer and PHP 8.1 or newer, and works with WooCommerce’s order storage (HPOS) and the Cart and Checkout blocks. Upload its zip file under Plugins › Add New Plugin › Upload Plugin and activate it. Its settings are under Pixonaut in wp-admin, in four tabs: Connection, Storefront, Approval and Updates.

  1. In wp-admin, open Pixonaut › Connection and choose Connect to Pixonaut.
  2. The studio opens. Sign in if you need to, pick the workspace, and choose whether the store is for Live, whose orders go to your printshops, or Sandbox, for a staging store whose orders never reach a printshop (once the workspace has a sandbox; see Test with a sandbox).
  3. Choose Approve. You are sent back to the plugin, connected.

Approving takes a member who may manage API keys. A live store’s address must be https://, and the store must be reachable from the internet, since Pixonaut calls it back. A store on your own machine connects to a sandbox; see Develop on your own machine. The Free plan connects one store; see Billing.

Connecting gives the store an integration key named after it, a publishable key bound to its address and a webhook endpoint, all at once; Getting started says what each may do. Whoever approves is linked to the store as they connect it, for Pixel in the store’s admin. The plugin’s Connection card shows the key’s name, the workspace, Live or Sandbox, the site’s address, other hosts of its domain the store may also use (such as www.), and whether its webhooks are Receiving events, with Send test request.

In the studio, connected stores are listed under API Keys, Connected stores.

  1. Open the product in WooCommerce and, under Product data, the Pixonaut tab. Tick Personalise.
  2. Choose the Blank, then for each side its Name, Placement and Template: only live templates that fit the placement are offered. Add side adds another, up to 10.
  3. Optionally override the store’s Layout, Form layout and Approval for this product.
  4. Update the product.

The store’s Default layout is under Pixonaut › Storefront:

  • Inline, the default: a live preview takes the place of the product’s images, and the design’s form sits above Add to cart.
  • Personalise button: a Personalise button takes the place of Add to cart and opens Pixonaut’s hosted designer.

The design’s proof shows in the cart, at checkout, in the order mails and in the customer’s account.

Choose the store’s Default approval under Pixonaut › Approval; a product can override it.

  • Adding to the cart approves the design, the default.
  • Customer ticks “I approve the preview”, a box beside Add to cart.
  • Proof by email after payment: once the order is paid, the customer is mailed the proof to approve, and reminded. You choose the deadline (14 days unless you change it), the reminders, what happens when nobody answers (approve the design as shown, or deny it) and what a denied design does to the order line (refund and cancel it, cancel it, or mark it as needing attention).

A design already approved in the studio is not mailed for approval. In the studio, a design can also wait a set number of days before it is approved; see Designs.

When a WooCommerce order is paid (Processing), each personalised line becomes one printshop order: its approved design, the blank variant times the line’s quantity, shipped to the order’s address. The blank decides the printshop. The order’s notes say what happens to each line, with tracking once it ships, and the order is set to Completed when every line has shipped. Orders describes an order’s life.

Disconnect on the plugin’s Connection card revokes the store’s keys and its webhook endpoint at once. You can also disconnect a store in the studio, under API Keys, Connected stores; the plugin then shows the connection as paused, with Connect again. To move a store between Live and Sandbox, disconnect it and connect it again.

To build a store integration of your own that connects this way, see Connecting a store.
